Are you looking to make an impact on the community? Join our team of over 1,600+ individuals who support Immigrant Services Calgary and the community. Volunteering is also a great way to get the Canadian experience needed for finding employment, and we make sure to update our volunteers on network connections or opportunities that may be of interest to them.
Who is eligible?
If you are a permanent resident, convention refugee, or citizen of Canada, you can join our volunteer team.
What volunteers are we looking for?
Some positions we look for are interpreters, translators, community outreach aides, tutors, seniors volunteers, employment coaches, and youth mentors. Positions open and close on a bi-weekly basis, so be sure to check back here for frequent updates.
Currently we are seeking individuals for the following volunteer positions:
- Children's Program Volunteer

Assists ISC staff in facilitating children’s activities such as reading circles, crafts, playing, singing, dancing, and others. This role may also include helping with setting-up and cleaning-up, preparing healthy snacks, childminding, assisting with workshops and other tasks.

Participate in community causes, projects, and initiatives through volunteering in the community. Interested candidates please go to here to learn more.

- Employment Coach

Employment coach volunteers support newcomer job seekers in achieving their career and employment goals. Employment coaches assist clients in creating and/or editing résumés and cover letters. They help enhance clients’ interview skills through conducting mock interviews with them. They provide guidance and support to increase clients’ employment prospects.

- Office Support

Office support volunteers assist Immigrant Services Calgary staff by providing clerical assistance such as filing, making phone calls, data entry and other duties as required. They also support us at our reception desks in different departments. For more information click here.

- Community Volunteer

Community Volunteer: Community Volunteers assist staff with the promotion and execution of Immigrant Services Calgary programs within the ethno-cultural community the volunteer belongs to, or the community in general. Community Volunteer may involve helping to set up meetings with people in the community and helping to arrange presentations within the community and at various events.

- Seniors’ program volunteer

Provides assistance to immigrant seniors while they are adapting to their new life in Canada. The tasks may include interpretation and support services, workshop assistance, community outreach, and others.

I really believe that the opportunity helped me to get back to my career; it helped me to restore my confidence and my soft skills.
