Volunteer of the Month - December 2016

Giang
Tran

Giang was born and raised in the tropical country of Vietnam, in Southeast Asia. After achieving a Bachelor Degree in Business, she worked for more than 15 years for various esteemed organizations in the region.

In 2013 Giang and her family decided to move to Canada, and in 2014 they made Calgary their home. A kind and generous nature, Giang decided to join the Volunteer Program at Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) to return the support that she and her family received when coming to the city

“As soon as I arrived to Calgary, in August 2014, I have received much warm motivation and support from ISC that really helped me be more comfortable to adapt into the new environment, as well as inspired me to give back to the community.”

Being a social-life oriented person, with extensive experience working in the office, Giang registered to volunteer at ISC in several capacities. She has been actively volunteering since, at various community events, at the ISC office, or with the ISC’s Language Bank as translator and interpreter of the Vietnamese language. In a few short months, Giang has already contributed over 60 hours.

“Through my volunteering experience, I have not only had chances to help others, but also integrate into the community effectively.”

Thank you very much for your kind support, Giang. Congratulations!
