Volunteer of the Month - April 2018

Dominik
Maslanka

Dominik Maslanka is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month!

Dominik joined our Volunteer Program in August 2017, because he was passionate about helping newcomers settle down in Canada.

Initially as an interpreter for ISC’s Language Bank, and later as administrative support for our ILVARC department, Dominik did just that. By selflessly volunteering his time and talents, he completed over 130 volunteer hours so far, helping ISC clients that met him in one role or the other.

“It has been my pleasure to volunteer for Immigrant Services Calgary. As an office support volunteer and interpreter, I have had the opportunity to help newcomers adjust to a new life in our vibrant city. Giving back to ISC was very important to me, as my parents used their services upon arriving to Calgary in the 1980s.

Needless to say, returning the favor has been a privilege. Over the past five months, ISC provided a supportive opportunity for me to develop my administrative and intercultural skills. As a recent university graduate, I could not have asked for a better place to start! As a volunteer, I feel that I am a positive influence on our community, spreading a message of multicultural awareness, by celebrating difference and supporting communal growth. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store!”

Thank you for your hard work, Dominik! We are delighted to have you in our team! Congratulations!
