Norah Wright is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month!

Noni – as friends call her - is a native Calgarian and a proud Canadian who was looking for ways to give back and help others in our great city. After browsing the web, she learned about the Volunteer Program at ISC and decided to join us in the summer of 2016.

A talented HR Professional, Noni chose ISC to volunteer, seeking to support internationally educated professionals navigate the Canadian job market and attain what every newcomer desires most after arriving to this great country: a good job that allows using their potential to the fullest.

Soon after becoming a volunteer at ISC, she got her first assignments as Employment Coach. Since July 2016, Noni has helped many clients and has contributed over 200 volunteer hours, yet she shows no sign of being tired.

“The position of Employment Coach is a great fit for me. It has provided me with the opportunity to meet and work with many interesting and talented newcomers. In this role, I have worked with engineers, doctors, lawyers, architects, IT professionals, teachers and many others!

Assisting these professionals with their job search activities is very rewarding.  The Calgary job market has been tough and if I can help someone get a good start, and potentially find a job, that is very satisfying. Hearing from clients that have landed a job makes my day!

I truly enjoy my volunteer experience at Immigrant Services Calgary! The ISC staff are very supportive, professional and fun to work with. Each week I look forward to my volunteer time in the office.”

Your dedication is humbling and we are grateful for every day you spend in our office, Noni. We look forward to more success stories from the people you help. Congratulations!
