New Board Member Opportunities Available
Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) is committed to facilitating the integration of immigrants, refugees and their families into Canadian society. To do this, we depend on members from the community to help guide our direction.
ISC is looking for Board members who are driven by the belief that newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are incredible people who enrich Canada. The Board of Directors works with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the effective governance of the organization and meets regularly. Occasionally, the Board Member will be representing ISC by attending various public functions or events.
Areas of governance the Board is responsible for include: policy, strategic planning, finance, fund development and human resources. Board members also actively participate in committee work and can expect to volunteer approximately 6 to 8 hours a month.
Length of Term
2 years
We are looking for Board volunteers with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance / Accounting
- Resource Development, Fundraising
- Strategic, senior level corporate leadership
- Community development initiatives
Overall, ISC is looking for dynamic individuals who want to make a difference in their community. The volunteer Board position is an excellent opportunity to leverage your business experience, add value, make a contribution and give back to the community while gaining experience in a Board position.
Applicable Interests
Immigrant settlement issues, multiculturalism, diversity, human resources, finance, fundraising and resource development, community development, marketing, not-for-profit board governance.
Qualifications
Previous board experience is an asset, though not required.
