24th Annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards - Health & Safety Notice

Health & Safety Notice for March 12th, 2020

Following ongoing consultations with health authorities, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Immigrants of Distinction Awards taking place on March 13, 2020. The safety and well-being of attendees is our number one priority, and this decision was made out of an abundance of caution and review of the developing situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Immigrants of Distinction Awards are a celebration of people with roots from around the world who have come to call Calgary home. As such we look forward to celebrating our diverse nominees at a postponed date which will take place later in the fall.

Any questions about the event can be directed IDATicketSales@immigrantservicescalgary.ca

Health & Safety Notice for March 11th, 2020

Immigrant Services Calgary cares deeply about the health, safety, and the well-being of everyone in our city. As such, we have been closely monitoring the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and are engaging in constant dialogue with health authorities.

We are monitoring developments on an hourly basis and will notify attendees if the situation changes.

While the risks associated with COVID-19 remain low for Canada and Canadian travelers, we are taking steps to support attendees’ health and safety at the Immigrants of Distinction awards. These steps include:

  • working closely with provincial and municipal partners to share information about potential health risks.

  • ensuring front-line staff and volunteers have information about the virus so they can take recommended actions and report suspected cases to public health officials.

  • placing hand sanitizers at key areas such as our reception/raffle tables and working with our venue partner to routinely sanitize the space with disinfectants.

  • making inquiries with attendees at the venue who appear unwell. If attendees are displaying symptoms and are unwell, they will not be permitted to attend and will be issued compensation for their ticket.

We are prepared to respond to quarantine decisions and will adapt our event schedule and activities as developments unfold.
