Kausar Kallaru was so eager to start her first-ever lesson at a Rocky Mountain ski resort that she headed to Nakiska hours before her snowboard lesson was set to begin.

Samah Hannane has only been volunteering with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) for a short time, but she has already made a big impact with her warmth, dedication and confidence!

She moved to Canada with her family in July 2020 from Algeria, seeking a new beginning in the Rockies. Soon after, she fell in love with Calgary!

Samah is a trilingual speaker, with English being her 3rd language. She has worked hard in the last year to improve her English skills and feels that she’s now even more prepared to contribute to her community.

The Government of Canada plans to resettle up to 20,000 vulnerable Afghan nationals. This will be done through two programs:

Ashley Andrade started volunteering with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) in our Early Learning Across Cultures (ELAC) program in June 2021. She began by joining the Zoom classes and capturing photos while staff were teaching. This resulted in her creation of a delightful video featuring all the children's artistic accomplishments.

Erik became a Canadian citizen in 2017 after being a permanent resident for several years.

Effective August 31st, 2021: ISC’s Mosaic Afterschool, Mosaic Preschool and Parents and Tots programs will no longer be available.

Sabin Fung is our volunteer of the month for July, thank you to Norgaby Diaz from CLARC for the nomination.
