General Description:

Congratulations Alejandra Rivano Tolosa, on being Immigrant Services Calgary’s August Volunteer of the Month!

Please join us in congratulating Dima Marachi as July’s Volunteer of the Month. Since registering with the volunteer program in 2018, we have been fortunate to have Dima’s support as a workshop volunteer. Sharing her expertise with computers and her talents as a teacher, she has helped our clients improve their skill and confidence with technology.

Adrian Ruiter is the Volunteer of the Month for June 2020! Adrian has been a regular volunteer across many of the programs that depend on volunteers for support. He has participated as a Volunteer Tutor, Community Volunteer, and has helped out with various Seniors Program activities including fitness classes and conversation clubs. He has also been a huge supporter of ISC’s reading club, where ESL learners can improve their English through reading in small groups.

This May, we would like to recognize Volunteer of the Month Sandra Mabel Velandia Lopez. A long-time volunteer who was one of the first to help us with our Virtual Volunteer Programing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2015 Sandra has been an outstanding volunteer, helping out at Immigrant Services Calgary in a variety of different roles.

We are pleased to congratulate Kavitha Kalyanam for being nominated as our Volunteer of the Month for April 2020! Starting as a volunteer in November of last year, Kavitha has been a huge help in a relatively short time. Volunteering primarily with the Children’s Program, she has contributed her time on a weekly basis to the Early Learning Across Cultures Project. The ELACP is a safe place for parents and children to make new friends, learn about other cultures, and share their experiences.
