Rune Bhattacharya is our Immigrant Services Calgary Volunteer of the Month.

Rune has been a constant presence at Immigrant Services Calgary since early 2019, and he has already amassed an impressive 160 volunteer hours in that time. He is fluent in English, Bengali, and Hindi and our clients and staff can often see him behind the front desk helping reception on multiple floors. He has also facilitated classes for the senior’s program, Search & Learn and has been a positive, professional who handles any task with a smile.

Starting life in a new country has its challenges, and in the flurry of activity it can be difficult to access and understand the information you need when settling into your new home.

Our seniors have given so much for our families, communities, and society, and on Tuesday, October 1 we take part in the national movement to recognize them.

Bindiya Shetty is Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month.

We met Bindiya in the spring of 2013 when she joined ISC’s Volunteer Program because “Being an immigrant myself I realize the difficulties faced by newcomers to Canada.”

It is undeniable that Priyanka’s positive energy is infectious, so when she enrolled in Immigrant Services Calgary’s (ISC) Volunteer Program in August 2018, we were absolutely thrilled to work with her. She didn’t waste any time getting started. After just two months with ISC, Priyanka had already contributed 163 volunteer hours providing admin support for our Settlement and ILVARC Departments.

Soft-spoken and polite, Ahmed may seem shy at first, but he is incredibly comfortable in front of an audience. A teacher by trade, he is always seeking to share his knowledge and expertise with those around him.
